What Does This Workshop Do?

This workshop will give participants specific tools which will help them to more effectively cope with stress and depression.

Optimistic vs. pessimistic styles of viewing the world

v      How does this affect the way we think, act and solve problems?

v      How can we learn to adopt more optimistic strategies for solving problems? 

Differences in how men and women communicate and deal with stress and depression

v      How does this affect male/female relationships? 

Stress in the workplace

v      What are the most effective strategies for balancing work with family responsibilities? 

Relaxation exercises

v      How can they be used to counter stress? 

The importance of sufficient sleep

v      How does that affect our moods and coping abilities? 

Dealing with anger in constructive ways

v      What does the research tell us? 

Issues of self esteem

v      Is self esteem sex-linked?

v      If so, how, and what can be done about it? 

What makes people happy?

v      What do we know about the attainment of happiness? 

A listing of resources (including books, articles, etc.) will be distributed to all workshop participants.
